Anecdote

When we were on our vacation in Hawaii, my brother and I had a lot of fun on the slides.  Of course, Nicholas wanted to take my dad on the slower of the two slides.  Nick thought that the "back one" as he called it would be too fast for our father.  The slide that we went on just so happened to have donut rafts to ride in.  My brother, being the competitive nine- year old that he is decided he was going to go by himself and my dad and I would go together in a double raft.  Nick wanted to go first on the slide so he could see my dad's face after he came off the slide.  As Nick went down the slide, my dad and I stood at the top of the cave which was the hiding place of slide, hearing occasional squeals.  When we finally got down to the bottom, we noticed Nick was not there.  All we saw was an upside- down raft.  Before the raft even came off of the slide, my dad jumped off his raft.  I could just watch on the now single raft.  A few life guards were already in the water, but now there were at least five.  One of the life guards plucked Nick up from under the water.  Nick was laughing his little head off.  The four other life guards just turned around and got out of the pool as one of them said how Nick was about the third kid to fly off the raft in the past five minutes.

1. A picture of a t - shirt that describes my sister

Repartee

What is repartee?  Quick, witty conversation

An example....
Theresa: We can be men!
Lauren: Yeah! (with voice crack)
Melissa:  Wow!  We are so G we're H!
Theresa: Hey!  Did you hear about that guy who got his whole left side cut off?
Melissa, Lauren, and Chloe: No...
Theresa: He's all right now! bahahahahhahaha
Melissa:  Hey Lauren, remember when we went sailing during camp?
Lauren: Yeah!  That was so fun!
Chloe: ehhh, sailing isn't a sport that floats my boat...
Lauren and Theresa: Does it fly your plane?
Melissa: How was you're tennis match Chloe and Lauren?
Chloe: Well, in tennis love is nothing; but in life, love is everything!
Lauren: We lost....
Chloe: You know sleeping comes so naturally to me...
Theresa: Me too, I could almost do it in my sleep

There you have it!  Some of this actually happened, such as the tennis and gangster part.  Wow... what a group.  If only we had our own tv show!  We could be famous; just like that new weed whacker that is cutting- hedge technology.  If I had a drum set I would definitely hit the "joke theme song" but unfortunately the only drums I own belong to the wii!  Thanks Theresa for all the "puns" as you call them!

Nobel Peace Prize

A few questions:

1. Have you ever heard of the Nobel Peace Prize?
2. Do you know the name of anyone who has won the Nobel Peace Prize?
3. Have you won the Nobel Peace Prize?

Now think about all of the things those people have done who won it... have you thought yet?  I did!  This is what I came up with:

Source: http://radwastelocater.org

What issue caused this person to take action? the "shortcomings" of nuclear power

Was the issue local or global? Explain. global... many countries use nuclear power for weapons(the US is one of those many)

How did the person take action? gave speeches, spoke to many different environmentalist groups

What media channels did he/ she use to take action?  How did he or she use each? some speeches were on television so some families could see it

Answers to my questions:  main question was what was his job before well, it was: working at Permanent Missions of Egypt and was in charge of political, legal, and arms- control issues

One day, in 2070 or possibly later when we are living on the moon, you will be looking at your ipad 17th addition and notice that back in the old days we gave out awards for trying to make the world amazing!  Wow, 2070 will be cool if the world doesn't end before then like it was supposed to a few weeks ago.

Results of Bullying Survey

I finally got enough results to do this!

50% of people agree they have been bullied this year
50% of people disagree they have been bullied this year

100% of people agree they have not bullied someone this year

100% of people agree they have witnessed someone being bullied this year

100% of people agree bullying is a problem at our school

Most people agree that bystanders of bullying normally do nothing about the situation

Bullying

Bullying is a huge problem worldwide.  What can you do to help other who are being bullied?  Have you ever been bullied?  Just the word bullying may make some kids feel uncomfortable.  Bullying can be stopped if we figure out why it is necessary for those people to make others feel bad.  Please take the survey in the sidebar about bullying so we can figure out how we can stop it from happening.

Study the Holocaust

Most people wonder why you should study the Holocaust.  This quote by Richard Von Weizsaecker explains why many never forget.

"Whoever refuses to remember the inhumanity is prone to new risks of infection."
-Richard Von Weizsaecker

This quote means if you ignore what happened in the Holocaust and you don't care about those who suffered, you have a higher chance of being engaged in another act of genocide than someone who does all they can to remember.  If you chose not to remember, you could be like the Nazis and others who accepted what was going on around them.

The United States has also ignored those crying for help in Darfur.  All we did is send money.  We should send in soldiers to stop the young soldiers and others helping kill innocent people.  If the US doesn't step in soon, we could lose an entire population of people.

10/13/11
Hi... my name is Lauren... hence the title "Inside Lauren's Lightbulb."  I will mostly be "blogging" about myself and language arts.  I've never had a blog before so I find it kind of weird that I am writing a whole entire paragraph that probably no one will read... oh well.  That is pretty much it to those of you who are actually reading this... bye.
